At
the Leeward Village, the residents will have a touch of a British accent.
Moreover, anyone of them could be somehow related to Lord Nelson who married
here the Nevis girl Fanny Nisbet. A future king of England came to be present at
the wedding. But I doubt our docent will have as a recognizable face as that
other famous resident of Nevis, Alexander Hamilton. Americans see his face all
the time on their ten dollar bill. Whatever our docents' ancestry may be, all
our villagers at any of the Caribbean islands will be friendly, welcoming and
helpful too - so do come.
Meanwhile,
you could be anticipating the earth shaking volcanic eruptions much as the real
ones on Montserrat, one of the six Leeward Islands. But we will leave the waking
activities to the Puerto Rican salsa music and coffee. Nor when you come to our
village are you going to see the simple green scrubs of some of the other
Leeward Islands such as Antigua, Anguilla, or Barbuda. But rather, we will show
you a beautiful botanical garden so that you can appreciate the garden paradise
of the Caribbean.
Imagine
what life was like before the devastating affects of the volcano on Montserrat.
It ruined two thirds of the island with a rain of ash and mud. Or do the
opposite and visualize life as it is now on the Leeward Islands of St. Kitts and
Nevis. Remember, you are in the tropics where there is an abundance of
spectacular orchids, croton, palm trees, ferns, vines, etc. Even the weeds in
the tropics look beautiful.
Not only that, the water plants both above and below the surface create a
superabundance of wonderful scenery in various tropical settings. Add to all of
this the backdrop of clear blue skies and you will think that this is heaven on
earth, or at least you will have a good picture what the garden of Eden must
have been like.
