Ports of Call is a marketplace for various handmade gifts, crafts, toys, food,
and any other work of art you can imagine. It is large enough to be modeled
after a waterfront district and also a town plaza. You will find yourself
emerged in a cosmopolitan shopping setting with the ease of either crossing the
street or stepping next door and being magically transported to another
Caribbean island. So bring home a souvenir to remind yourself of a great
visit or to give as a gift to a friend.
Ports
of Call is unique in that you have a tremendous variety of Caribbean goods all
in one place, which is the whole idea behind the Caribbean Cultural
Center. Recipients of your little treasures will actually imagine that you
went to Antigua and found that beautiful shell. Your boss will think that
you bought that genuine hand rolled Cuban cigar just because you like him. Your
mother-in-law will thank you for the Haitian voodoo doll that looks like
you. (You'll keep the other one that looks like her for
yourself.) And what about the Puerto Rican coffee and Barcadi Rum
that your neighbor will thank you for? Moreover, you know where at home to
put the elaborate Jamaican word carving and who gets the Cayman island rum
cake. There are painting by local artist, hammocks, straw hats, beach
ware, traditional Creole costumes, beaded jewelry, antique maps, Spanish coins,
perfumes, and loads more. Ports of Call Marketplace is a regular treasure
trove of goodies. Are you beginning to get the picture?
Both
the town plaza and waterfront districts are an attraction all to themselves.
For we not only stress authentic hand crafted items in our selection originating
from the local islands; but also you will feel that you were actually on a
particular island (e.g., Cuba, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, or Trinidad) because our
shop keepers create literally atmospheric conditions that makes entering their
place of business a little Havana, an Old San Juan, a Kingston town, or at the
lower end of Fredrick street, in downtown, Port of Spain, with its international
bazaar. Their
accents are real and their hospitality genuine. It is our sincere desire
to have Ports of Call take the shopping experience to the highest levels by
providing quality merchandise, superior selection, and excellent service.
